Whimsy and Stars Studio

From my sketchbook...

I have taken these past months as a "sabbatical". Using this time to think/consider new "directions", new styles and what really I want to do as an artist & designer. Like a blueprint and a new layer to discover....I'm sure some of you understand exactly what I'm talking about.

As an artist I constantly have ideas, colors and patterns popping in my head (thank God for sketchbooks!). I needed time to think and pin-point what are the things that really make me happy in my career as an artist and concentrate my efforts toward my goal.

I love both of my careers...as a Senior Graphic Designer (for in-house design dpt.) and my career as an illustrator/artist. Both of them are "me" and both make me so happy! I'm passionate for both.

So during this time...one of the things I discovered is my love for painting. I always found it kind of "scary" to paint with acrylics (weird, ha?) But I soon as I decided to try it, I felt in love! I have been painting in canvases, in furniture, in paper....Painting spontaneously!

The painting above is one of my latest creations. I hope in these coming months I have more art to share with you...and new additions to Whimsy and Stars Studio.

..it's a good feeling to let go of old plans and embrace new inspirations and bliss!

I'm happy!

To be called Mama

Today I found one of my sketchbooks and inside I found this illo! What a treat! It represents everything that makes me happy and gives me purpose. I just love the sound of those little voices calling me: "Mama!" You see, for many years my husband and I tried and tried to have babies without success. Even though we were a very happy couple I always felt this huge hole in my heart...longing for a baby! I spent 7 long years praying, crying, hoping and believing for the day when a little one would call me "Mama". I received my miracle one unexpected day! And I became the happiest being in the whole world!

Now that I have my two babies I'm grateful for each day I hug them and kiss them. I'm so honored and grateful to have them in my life and to be called their "Mama".
